Print techniques

Vinyl Print

We print using various print techniques.

Screen printing or silk screening is a printing technique particularly suited for flat or relatively flat surfaces. The heart of the process involves a fine mesh or screen that is tightly stretched around a rigid frame. The areas that are not to be printed are masked out on the screen. To create the print, the framed screen is positioned over the item to be printed along with a dollop of thick ink. A squeegee is then used to press the ink through the screen. The masked areas prevent ink from passing through, but the unmasked areas allow the ink to be imprinted on the material. The final step is to send the item on a conveyor belt through a heat-tunnel. This curing process ensures that the inks dry quickly so that they materials can be stacked or packaged. Properly cured inks will remain on the printed substrate even under harsh conditions. We do the screen printing at a minimum of 10 garments.

We also print using vinyl, With this technique you send us your design or we design one for you, which we make print ready, The print ready image is sent to a cutter/plottiing machine, which cuts the design onto a preloaded vinyl, The vinyl is heat pressed onto the garment. There is no minimum quantity with this technique, but we only print a maximum of 4 different colours per garment.

Diamante crystals

Swarovski crystals

We use Swarovski Crystals (Rhinestones Hotfix), These are applied to the garment with a hot wand which sticks the crystal to the garment, we then press with a heat press for the final seal. This are very durable as long as appropriate care is taken whilst wearing garments, they can also be washed in a washing machine at 40 degrees, should be washed inside out, at this temperature.

Choose the garments you require including quantity, sizes and colours Select printing and/or diamante(State preferred colour or colours of diamante crystals), State where you require printing - e.g front, back, sleeve, hood. Upload your artwork or request artwork Fill in your personal details and request a quote. Note: We charge a minimum £40 per design.

Pros and Cons of Each Shirt Imaging Method

Screening Printing - Creating screens pressed up against cloth to place paint onto shirts one color per screen. Pros: cost effective, high quality, professional, durability. Cons: each color requires a separate screen, messy, need to print many shirts at once with the same design to be feasible.

Heat Press/Plastisol Transfers
-

Vinyl Cutters
- Use a machine to cut out designs on special solid color sheets of vinyl. Use heat to adhere cut vinyl to adhere vinyl to paper. Pros: high quality, durability, easily customize different shirts, great for small orders. Cons: have to separate and cut out each color independently, doesn't work well for designs with complex patterns or designs that show a lot of background of the shirt inside the design.

Direct to Garment
- Print inks directly onto cloth. Pros: reduces steps, patterns doesn't have heavy feel like screen printing, great for small orders, easily customize different shirts. Cons: the cloth is the brightest part of the design: works well on white shirts. There is more of a challenge to the DTG operator to get dark prints to come out correctly, but it can be done.

Dye Sublimation - Dye sub is great for full color designs on white or light colored garments. It has no feel to the design but is a little trickier to master than inkjet heat transfers. Also, it tends to be a bit more expensive. You can also use this process on non textile products such as mugs, mousepads, tile, puzzles, coasters, key chains, etc. Dye sub is used only on man made fabrics like polyester (with various results on blends and pre-treated fabrics). You cannot print on 100% cotton t-shirts with dye sub.
